The first organizational meeting for foreign students was held at Polytech

An organizational meeting was held in Yuri Gagarin State Technical University of Saratov for first-year students who came from other countries to get higher education in the prestigious technical university.

This year more than 170 people from Egypt, Syria, Zambia, Cote d'Ivoire, Haiti, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and other countries entered the Polytech. Children from Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics entered the university as part of a special quota of the Government of the Russian Federation.

Newly arrived students were told about the advantages and some details of studying at SSTU, about the opportunities to realize themselves in the scientific, creative and social life of the university.

"I immediately liked it at Polytech - my classmates are sociable and friendly, I was very warmly welcomed. I am interested to learn new things about my future profession and study here. I also plan to join a basketball club. I have been practicing this sport for a long time and I would like to represent my university in competitions and take an active part in student life", - said Kirill Kondratenko, a student of "Information Systems and Technologies" of Institute of Applied Information Technologies and Communications of SSTU who came to Saratov from the Donetsk People's Republic.

Of particular interest to the listeners was the association of foreign students. In the framework of its work for they visit museums, theaters, excursions, get acquainted with the culture of the country and history of Saratov region. Let us remind you that the Association was founded in 2021 to help in socialization and socio-cultural adaptation of foreign students.

During the meeting with the students, the staff of the International Relations Department pointed out the necessity of following the rules of migration registration for foreign citizens. First-year students asked many questions about the educational process, students and life of foreigners in Russia, to which they received comprehensive answers.

"I entered the department of "Transport Construction". I believe that this profession is in demand today and I will be able to find a decent job after graduation from Polytech. The staff of the university is ready to help with any questions, and it helps to feel comfortable in the new place", - shared Maxim Manukyan, a student of "Transport Construction" of the Institute of Urbanism, Architecture and Construction of SSTU, who came from the Donetsk People's Republic.
