Foreign students talked with Alexander Sotnichenko in the format "Dialogue on equal terms"
The Gagarin State Technical University hosted an online meeting with the head of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in the Republic of Turkey, Alexander Sotnichenko, organized by the Department of International Communications.
The meeting was attended by Vice-Rector for International Relations Tatyana Kasaeva, students and foreign students representing the association of foreign students of the Polytechnic University.
Tatyana Kasaeva addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. She thanked the head of the Russian House in Ankara and expressed hope for fruitful joint work.
Alexander Sotnichenko told about the history of the development of Russian-Turkish friendship, the reasons for choosing his profession, humanitarian assistance of the Russian House for the elimination of the consequences of the earthquake in Turkey, the active support for the development of the Russian language and culture in Turkey, and also shared his culinary preferences in Russian and Turkish cuisine, commented on his attitude to Turkish TV series.
The meeting was attended by a graduate student from Turkey, Shahin Yusuf Mert, who asked about the specifics of admission of Turkish applicants on a budgetary basis to Russian universities. The head of the Russian House in Ankara gave an answer about the possibility of enrolling in a Russian university within the quota established by the Government of the Russian Federation.
The representative of Rossotrudnichestvo also spoke about significant historical figures, in his opinion. For him, this is Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky.
.Of particular interest was the story about the reverent attitude in Turkey to the personality of Yuri Gagarin.
At the end of the meeting, the students thanked the speaker for an interesting and open dialogue, and also expressed hope for its continuation in personal communication. The meeting will open new pages in the further development of relations between the Russian House in Ankara and the SSTU.
"I am a Turkish citizen, but I really love Russia, Saratov and Polytech. The Russian House in Ankara plays an important role in the development of friendly relations between Russia and Turkey. Such meetings are very important. I will be happy to attend such events," commented Shahin Yusuf Mert, a second–year graduate student at the Institute of Urban planning, Architecture and Construction.
Recall that from December 15 to December 25, 2023, SSTU took part in the work on the selection of foreign citizens to study in Russian educational organizations according to the quota of the Government of the Russian Federation at the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in the Russian House in Ankara (Republic of Turkey).
