International students of SSTU visited the exhibition dedicated to Yuri Gagarin

International students and participants of Russian language courses of SSTU visited Saratov Regional Museum of Local Lore where the new exhibition, dedicated to the Day of Cosmonautics was presented.

During the first part of the excursion the students learned about the making of coins with the image of the first cosmonaut of the planet Yuri Gagarin, about his life in Saratov, about his love to the sky, his passion which was born in Saratov aeroclub, saw the diploma work of the cosmonaut in Saratov industrial technical school where he studied to be a foundry technician. Nowadays the technical school is called Professional and Pedagogical College and is a part of the Saratov State Technical University.

Besides the students were told about the history of Yuri Gagarin's flight, his protective suit, descent capsule and landing on Saratov land. They were surprised to know that Yak-18 plane in the museum was the plane that Yury Gagarin flew on.

In the second part of the tour, students learned more about the history of the Saratov region and watched a theatrical performance.

"The Technical University cooperates with the Saratov regional museum of local lore within the framework of the presidential project "Native shores for all", created especially for foreign students. A walking tour of the streets of the city is planned in the near future. Such events always arouse interest and contribute to the formation of cultural awareness of our region. We are grateful to the museum for the opportunity to participate in this project", - said Evgeniya Tokareva, Head of International Relations Department.
