On April 12, Vladimir Putin visited the Space Explorers Park in Engels together with the Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, the first woman-cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova, the Governor Valery Radaev, and Russian cosmonauts. The excursion for the guests was led by Inna Buikevich, the head of Yuri Gagarin People's Museum of SSTU Professional Training College.

The president laid flowers at the monument to Yuri Gagarin in the Space Explorers Park - at the site of the cosmonaut's landing, and then the guests of honor and representatives of the regional authorities planted Siberian cedars on the alley of heroes. It was decided to place the cedar tree in the park in memory of Yuri Gagarin's call sign "cedar", which symbolizes endurance and determination.

In the park there is a monument to the first cosmonaut, surrounded by the walking route paved with plates engraved with quotes from the pilot's communications with the Earth. Nearby is the Cosmonauts' Square with the marble Wall of Glory, which contains information about the planets of the solar system and the stages of development of the Soviet and Russian space programs.

The park was opened on April 12, 2021 About 20 thousand people have already visited it.
