SSTU is creating a joint engineering school with a partner university from Uzbekistan
Gagarin State Technical University actively participates in the Uzbek-Russian conference "Prospects of higher technical education in the context of scientific and technological development", which opened today, May 24, in Tashkent. It is attended by 50 universities of engineering and technical profile of the two countries.
During the conference, issues of implementing joint research grants and expanding cooperation in the field of technical education between Russia and Uzbekistan are discussed. The priority direction for the development of relations is the creation of joint research centers, research laboratories, and the opening of new departments. Special attention is paid to the creation of international advanced engineering schools.
The Polytechnic University has been cooperating with Namangan Institute of Engineering and Technology for a long time and fruitfully. And this year, a new milestone of cooperation between partner universities begins.
As part of the conference, an agreement was signed on the establishment of joint advanced engineering schools between the Polytechnic and Namangan Institute of Engineering and Technology.
"Yuri Gagarin State Technical University is constantly developing cooperation with leading foreign universities. We have a long-standing and successful cooperation with Namangan Institute of Engineering and Technology. A joint double degree program is being implemented, within the framework of which students from Uzbekistan are being trained. Some of them continued their studies at the graduate school of SSTU. We are interested in further expanding mutually beneficial relations. The focus is on science and innovation, the creation of an advanced engineering school, and the training of in–demand personnel for various sectors of the economies of our states. I am confident that the friendly relations between our universities will grow stronger and give new results," said the rector of SSTU, Professor Sergey Naumov.
At the conference, the rector of Namangan Institute of Engineering and Technology, Odiljon Mamatkarimov, Director of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Transport, Alexey Kazinsky, presented a letter of thanks for fruitful cooperation signed by the rector of SSTU.
A number of other joint projects with the Uzbek side are planned during the visit.
