SSTU took part in public hearings on “Problems of National Security and Support foreign students”

Today, on the 11th of November, the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation held public hearings on “Problems of National Security and Support foreign students”.

The event was organized by the Russian Federation Public Chamber Commission on Security and Cooperation with Public Monitoring Comission, the Russian Federation Public Chamber Commission on Higher Education and Science Development, the Russian Federation Public Chamber Commission on Harmonization of Interethnic and Inter-religious Relations, the Russian Federation Public Chamber Commission on Physical Culture and the Promotion of Healthy Lifestyle.

In the National Security Strategy of the Russian Federation, approved by Presidential Decree No. 400 of 02.07.2021, one of the important directions is to develop the export potential of the Russian education system and multiply the number of foreign students in the country. An urgent problem in this area is the qualitative selection of applicants arriving in Russia and their vocational guidance.

The discussion was attended by members of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, representatives of federal and regional authorities, members of the Public Chambers of the subjects of the Russian Federation, representatives of recruitment agencies, leaders of specialized public organizations, representatives of the scientific community and the heads of leading universities of the Russian Federation.

During the hearings the possibility of improving the effectiveness of the state tasks in this area were discussed, the ways to solve the problems of retraining of teaching staff and universities in the context of the training of foreign students, as well as effective regulatory mechanisms in the system of support for foreign students. Issues of living conditions and comfortable environment for international students, as well as aspects of inclusion were touched upon.
