International students of Russian language courses visited the museum of SSTU history

The head of the museum, Natalia Lazareva, conducted an informative tour. For the convenience of the students, who have been studying Russian for only three months, Alexei Muratov, a member of the International Communications Department, translated the tour in Arabic.

Many listeners plan to study at SSTU, so it was interesting to learn how the university evolved from its founding to the present day. At the beginning of the last century in the country there was an active construction of plants, factories, bridges, multi-storey buildings, railroad tracks and highways. In this regard, the training of engineering personnel was necessary for the further development of the state. Just then, in 1930, in our region appeared a technical institute - Saratov Automobile and Road Institute. During more than 90 years of its development the institute became a large scientific and educational center of Russia – Yuri Gagarin State Technical University of Saratov. A special place in the exposition is given to the materials about participation of teachers and students in the Great Patriotic War.

All in all there are more than 2000 exhibits in the museum which tell about achievements of the institute, its leaders, prominent scientists, graduates and their role in the history of our country and the region.

"The museum tour was very interesting, and I was especially impressed by the stories of how university students took part in military operations during the Great Patriotic War. Thank you for the opportunity to learn the history of SSTU", - shared his impressions Russian language course participant from Egypt, Ahmed Mohamed.

As a reminder, International Students Association was established at SSTU with the main goal to help international students to adapt and socialize during their studies at the university as well as to strengthen mutual understanding and build trusting relationships. International students and trainees have already visited theaters, museums and places of interest of Saratov and Engels, have become active participants in scientific and creative life of the university. At the request of foreign students, but taking into account epidemiological situation, a cycle of excursions through SSTU museum complex is planned for the period of students' holidays.
