Professor Sergey Yu. Naumov met with international students at SSTU

On the eve of National Unity Day, the rector of Yuri Gagarin State Technical University of Saratov, Professor Sergey Naumov, had a meeting with international students. More than 800 students from 34 different countries, including Egypt, Kazakhstan, Iraq, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Morocco, Zambia, Sudan, Haiti, the Central African Republic, Lebanon, and Korea, are currently studying at SSTU.
The meeting was held in the format of an open dialogue and focused on several important issues. These included creating conditions for high-quality education and establishing communication channels. The students also discussed ways to promote cultural exchange and facilitate their socialization.
SSTU's international student association, which was established in 2021, plays a significant role in this process. It aims to strengthen cultural ties between students and make their transition to the university more comfortable.
Opening the event, Prof. Sergey Naumov welcomed students from other countries and expressed his gratitude for their presence in the Saratov region. He emphasized that they had chosen a technical university for their studies and assured them that they would not regret their decision. He expressed confidence that they would continue their education at master's and postgraduate levels and become highly qualified specialists. The main goal of the university, according to Prof. Naumov, was to help students achieve their goals and create favorable conditions for their success. He hoped that their families and friends would follow their example and also enroll in SSTU.
The Rector of SSTU highlighted that National Unity Day in Russia is celebrated on November 4th, embodying love for the homeland, unity, and the spiritual strength of the country. Throughout history, the Russian state has been united by its loyalty to its heroic past, rich heritage, desire for peace, and creativity. Today, we remember and honor the feat of our ancestors during the Great Patriotic War, which will celebrate its 80th anniversary in 2025.
During the event, students shared details about the culture, history, and unique sights of their home countries. They discussed architectural monuments, customs and traditions, cuisine, and languages. Amer Adam Mohamed Mahmoud Elbaz presented information about Egypt, Boujemaa Mahmoud spoke about Algeria, Chipailo Makkiva shared the incredible beauty of Zambia, and Fujami Mohamed presented Morocco.
Chipailo Makkiva, a student at the Institute of Applied Information Technologies and Communications, believes that studying at SSTU offers a great opportunity to discover one's talents and abilities, make new friends with like-minded people, and gain knowledge and valuable experience through participation in significant events.
"I am very happy that I followed my friend's advice and enrolled in SSTU. My studies for a master's degree in the Department of Ecology and Technosphere Safety at the Institute of Urban Planning, Architecture and Construction are helping me make a significant contribution to environmental protection," says Boujemaa Mahmoud from Algeria.
The meeting was conducted in a warm and friendly atmosphere. International students asked questions to the rector that they were interested in, including questions about their personal and professional accomplishments, how to achieve success in life and have a successful career, immediate plans of the university, and more.
At the conclusion of the meeting, students expressed gratitude to the management, faculty, and staff of SSTU for their attention, assistance, and support, as well as for creating favorable conditions for learning, creativity, sports, and social life.
