SSTU exchanges experience with the "Center of Russian Culture" of West Kazakhstan region
Delegation of SSTU consisting of employees of International Communications Department: Head Evgeniya Tokareva, Deputy Head Ilya Terentyev and Director of IMST Alexey Kazinsky continues its work in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Earlier representatives of the SSTU met with Nurlan Sergaliev, Acting Chairman of the Board - Rector of the West Kazakhstan University named after M. Utemisov.
Then they visited the "Center of Russian Culture" of West Kazakhstan region, located on the site of Assembly of Nations of Kazakhstan in Uralsk, as a part of the program of this trip.
The Assembly conducts work on preservation of culture, language, traditions and customs of the Russian people, and aims at their further development. Chairman of the center, Sergey Bykov, told interesting facts about Russian culture in the West Kazakhstan region. In particular - what brought Vladimir Dahl and Alexander Pushkin to Uralsk.
Evgeniya Tokareva in turn told about the program of studying Russian as a foreign language at SSTU. Today more than 500 foreign students from 38 countries are studying at the University, most of them have started their studies of Russian at SSTU.
Following the results of meeting the delegation of SSTU and "Center of Russian culture" of West Kazakhstan region have made a decision on the further cooperation, an exchange of methodical recommendations and operating time in the field of advancement of Russian language and culture. A number of joint activities are planned, for example, visits by employees of the Centre to the Scientific and Technical Library of SSTU, which has a fund of more than a million and a half books and textbooks, and the museum complex of the university.
